British Labour Party suffers cyber attack

In less than 24 hours, and in full election campaign, the party suffered two attacks on its digital platforms

Two cyber attacks on their digital platforms in less than 24 hours were reported Tuesday by the British Labour Party, in the middle of election campaign in the United Kingdom, to be held on December 12.

The first “large-scale” attack was made at the beginning of the week. According to the authorities and spokesmen of the Labour Party, it was allegedly executed from computers in Russia and Brazil. This attack was followed by another on Tuesday that was solved more quickly.

During the evaluation of the damages or affectation due to this hacking of the digital platforms of the party, it was determined that there was no theft or data breach. Likewise, it was possible to preserve the integrity of the platforms.

The National Cybersecurity Center declared that the party was able to resolve the attack in a positive way. On the other hand, they denied that there was evidence of an “activity promoted by States outside the United Kingdom”. However, they recognized that such an event against a political party in the middle of the electoral campaign is very suspicious.

Meanwhile, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn was visibly nervous due to the denial of access to the platforms during the first and second cyber attacks.
