Brazilian banks will verify identities with IBM blockchain

The Brazilian System of Payments had proposed the use of this tool, for security reasons and to avoid hacker attacks

This Monday it was learned that the main banking institutions in Brazil will start using the blockchain platform built by Hyperledger, to verify the identity of the users.

This application, developed by the IBM company, is a type of digital identifier that combines personal information with the cell phone number and other additional information of the person’s equipment.

The use of this app comes from a proposal made by the Brazilian Payment System, which is responsible for encompassing all the procedures, rules, instruments and operations that are carried out in Brazil.

According to a source familiar with the project, the application will be quite simple; the information of the users’ data will be shared and secured in the blockchain. Meanwhile, the Banks will have at their disposal this information in order to be able to verify the authenticity of the data provided by the users.

One of the main objectives, according to the source, is to be able to stop the hackers who seek to perpetrate and violate the parameters of financial security.
