Bolsonaro assures that privatizations are necessary

The Brazilian president defended the role of these actions, which seek to provide better administration through private companies

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, defended the role of privatizations of state companies that generate deficits and that can be better managed by private initiative.

“The State is bloated and must get rid of its loss-making companies, as well as those that can be better managed by private initiative,” said the president in a message posted on his Facebook account.

Bolsonaro pointed out that the fact of privatizing a company does not only consist in granting said company to the private initiative with the highest bid, but that the process implies that said privatization exceeds the approval of Congress.

Along these lines, the president indicated that the “bureaucratic challenges of the Brazilian State are enormous”, affirming that the front of his administration continues to be fiscal responsibility and spending limits.

An example of privatization in Brazil is the oil company Petrobras, which Bolsonaro intends to sell entirely before the end of his term.
