Blockchain is an ally in the development of smart cities

In the opinion of the expert Stefan Junestrand, decentralization is the main characteristic of this technology for the creation of the so-called smart cities

A smart city is one where there is an interconnected data network for the decentralized management of data on public services, health, banking, security, commerce and much more.

Blockchain expert Stefan Junestrand points out that this technology offers countless benefits for the creation of smart cities. The main feature in its favor is decentralization, but also the immediacy in the loading of the data, the transparency in its management and the security it guarantees.

The CEO of Grupo Tecma Red points out, specifically for the case of Spain, that despite current progress, “the challenge is to educate people, private companies and public entities to implement the blockchain in a massive way, taking advantage of its great kindnesses”.

As an architect, Junestrand is focused on the benefits of new technologies for architecture and cities. Undoubtedly, the blockchain is valuable for communication, structuring projects, reducing polluting emissions, protecting the environment.

In addition, it can be applied in strategic areas, which are what his organization is working on: designing smart buildings, developing sustainable construction, achieving energy efficiency, designing smart electrical networks and configuring smart cities.

If implemented correctly, the blockchain will allow an integrated use of information and communication technologies in the management of the city. With this, it will be possible to face challenges such as population growth and the demand for more services for the population.
