Blizzard announces the cancellation of its conference

The company will seek to carry it out through an online event or even to make it next year

Blizzard decided to cancel its BlizzCon conference due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and instead looks for some digital format, although it might not happen before the beginning of next year.

The pandemic has led to the cancellation of conferences and fairs in all sectors, including videogames, which have decided to adapt to digital formats in many cases.

Blizzard is the last company in the sector about not to hold its physical conference, following other meetings such as Game Developers Conference or E3, due to the uncertainty that the pandemic still generates and the different protocols that countries are implementing so much to combat it. as to resume a certain normality.

Blizzard executive producer Saralyn Smith said in a statement that they are looking for ways to “channel the BlizzCon spirit” and “connect” with fans “in some way online.”

“We would like to do this as soon as we can, but since this is new territory and there are different factors involved. It will probably be sometime early next year,” Smith explained.

The company is also looking at ways to host the various high-level eSports competitions that are normally held at BlizzCon.
