Bitcoin embassy attacked in Birmingham
A gang of masked men raided a bitcoin embassy (BTC) in the English city of Birmingham; what prompted a police investigation
The local Facebook page Brumz Updates posted images of thieves looting the building when sirens sounded in recent days.
According to the audiovisual material, the witnesses watched helplessly as the robbery developed and minutes later, the criminals left the scene of the crime in a waiting car.
The West Midlands police initiated an investigation on the incident but confirmed that nothing of value was stolen from the business. The thieves tried to steal a bitcoin ATM with a rope attached to a car.
Adam Gramowski, the owner of the establishment, told the media that he believes the thieves were looking for cash inside the machine instead of the cryptocurrency and sentenced: “There are no BTC in the machine, they are sent directly from our server.”
Violent acts aimed at businesses and bitcoin merchants are becoming more common. In February, a bitcoin merchant was attacked in his own home by a group of thieves disguised as policemen.
