Bank of Russia will not ban cryptocurrencies

The financial institution, through its legal department, assured that there is no way to restrict the use of digital assets

This Wednesday, the director of the legal department of the Bank of Russia, Alexei Guznov, assured that there is no way that they can prohibit the use of cryptocurrencies within the country.

Although digital assets have not been declared legal in Russia, it seems that there is no way this is prohibited there either.

Cryptocurrencies and the country ruled by Vladimir Putin have long had a complicated relationship. Many times there was talk of freezing bank accounts linked to cryptocurrencies, as well as negative comments about this payment method.

The Central Bank of Russia has repeatedly supported the ban and is steadfastly against bitcoin. However, it appears that enforcing such a dictate would be impossible, and the Russian government recently openly admitted this.

Despite all this, the propularity of digital assets in Russia is very remarkable, so it could be said that Guznov’s statements regarding the impossibility of restricting them are derived.
