Bakkt closes a Series B fundraising round at $ 300 million

Cryptocurrency derivative provider shared additional details about its upcoming mobile app

Institutional cryptocurrency platform Bakkt has announced the closure of a $ 300 million Series B fundraising round, through a recent blog post on March 16.

Companies such as: Microsoft M12, PayU, Boston Consulting Group, Goldfinch Partners, CMT Digital, Pantera Capital and Bakkt’s parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), participated in the round, as stated in the publication by the CEO Mike Blandina.

Blandina also mentioned the Bridge2 Solutions acquisition, highlighting that it is a loyalty service provider announced last February.

For his part, ICE CEO Jeffrey Sprecher said he saw the acquisition of Bridge2 as a potential opening of Bakkt to an asset class worth $ 1 trillion.

“I am excited about our potential to unlock nearly $ 1 trillion in digital assets when the Bakkt app launches soon… In this way it drives loyalty programs from the top 10 financial institutions and more than 4,500 loyalty and incentive programs, including two of the major US airlines.”
