Artificial Intelligence is able to prepare pizza

A group of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) created a neural network that has the ability to learn instructions to cook and generate a specific product

The neural network was called PizzaGAN and according to the Laboratory of Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAIL) of MIT it is a contradictory generative network that produces pizza images before and after the dish is cooked.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not creating edible pizzas, since the purpose of the developers is not to automate the pizza preparation process through a robot. In this case, PizzaGAN was created to understand the pizzas, their preparation and how the food should look once the cooking process is finished.

It has been possible to develop a neural network able to see the image of a pizza, determine its type, how the ingredients should be distributed and finally establish the proper order to arrange the pizza in layers before cooking.

Also, the researchers incorporated the ability to see the appearance of a pizza from the point of view of the disincorporation or incorporation of ingredients. That is, the system can display an image of the pizza in half preparation and then generate a modified image if required.

The models based on this neural network have the capacity to be useful in other instances, such as the preparation of salads, hamburgers and other types of foods.
