Apple will include facial recognition in other devices
The company created by Steve Jobs will continue to carry the tool, so that it coexists with its fingerprint scanner that many teams already manage
Apple will continue to expand the Face ID facial recognition system on other Apple devices, which will not mean the disappearance of its Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
The vice president of Product Marketing at Apple, Greg Joswiak, spoke in an interview for UK Daily Express about biometric security and the future of Face ID and Touch ID technologies in the upcoming Apple releases.
In this regard, Joswiak noted that “Touch ID was the first mass-implanted biometric security system” and that “consumers loved it.” This is the fingerprint sensor, which the company introduced in 2013 with iPhone 5s, and since then, it is also present on iPad, iPod Touch and Mac.
But, as the manager explained, Apple wanted to “further improve biometric security.” Therefore, they launched Face ID, their facial recognition system, in 2017 along with the iPhone X.
It is a biometric scanner system from several angles of the user’s face that is able to function without light and detect small changes in the owner’s face without this influencing the unlocking of the device.
Joswiak highlighted the “technological beast” that is the Face ID system, located in the ‘notch’ of the screen, next to a speaker, a microphone, an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor.
