Apple bans apps that use cryptocurrencies

The CEO of Coinbase Inc, Brian Armstrong indicated through his Twitter account that Apple's decision harms applications related to cryptocurrencies

Through his Twitter account, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong recently criticized Apple’s move on crypto-related apps, arguing that the censorship has a detrimental effect.

Armstrong specifically pointed out that Apple “does not allow them to add two functionalities to their applications so that they can be present in the iOS store.” He explained that, “firstly, it is not allowed to introduce functions related to decentralized finance (DeFi). Secondly, it is not allowed to introduce systems for users to earn money through cryptocurrencies, without using a verified means of payment, it is say without using Apple’s gateway. “

According to the CEO of Coinbase, the technology giant does not allow applications to redirects to other apps or third-party web pages in the DeFi (Decentralized Finance) environment.

Despite the fact that Coinbase has tried by all means to reach an Apple consensus, the company stands by its decision and continues to force its users to use the Apple App Store instead of DApps, or In-App Purchases.

According to Armstrong, Apple is concentrating on maintaining its profits through in-app payment systems, which would lead to market monopoly and illegal practices.
