This week, the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda announced the implementation of a new program of economic citizenship, which consists of the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in order to obtain nationality.
Specifically, the nation from now on will accept the amount of 100 thousand dollars through bitcoin and other virtual currencies.
Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, gave the reasons why they will now accept cryptocurrencies.
“The truth is that it will help us to expand the market because we have a number of cryptocurrency investors that would be quite willing to nationalize, but would only pay using crypts. If you do not accept them, you are literally taking them out of the market,“ explained Browne.
After receiving the payments through the digital wallets, this money will be immediately converted to fiat money or conventional currencies with the objective that they do not have any type of “exposure”.
