Amazon’s new robot arrives in California

The company said Scout has already officially started operating in California delivering packages to Amazon Prime customers

Scout is an Amazon six-wheeled robot that will handle deliveries during the day and will arrive to replace trucks and cars in last-mile deliveries; these deliveries will be made specifically for users residing in the Irvine area.

It is worth remembering that it is not the first time that the company has tested its half-mile robots, because in January Jeff Bezos‘ company put several robots to the test in a neighborhood in Snohomish County, Washington.

Undoubtedly, the operation with Amazon Scout is the same as with the last mile vehicles, only now this last installment turns out to be more sustainable and efficient.

The firm thoroughly evaluates Scout’s function, as it was recently reported that virtual maps are being developed that will collect information from neighborhoods, in order to improve the performance and training of the autonomous robot.

Scout will not be alone, because these test robots will be accompanied by Amazon employees who have been referred to as “Scout Ambassadors” and will ensure that everything works well, in addition to evaluating the reaction of users.
