Amazon will create more jobs in Canada
The e-commerce giant announced that it will open 3,500 positions in the technology and corporate departments in Vancouver and Toronto
US e-commerce giant Amazon will hire 3,500 people for technology and corporate positions in the Canadian cities of Vancouver and Toronto, the company said in a statement.
These newly created jobs will support the teams currently working in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alexa, the advertising division, and the technology operations and retail departments.
At the beginning of this month, Amazon announced the hiring of another 2,500 people to cover the needs of the two new fulfillment centers that it plans to open in Canada starting in 2021.
The commerce giant indicated that, in the last ten years, its investment in Canada exceeds 11,000 million dollars, including infrastructure and salaries. Among full-time and part-time workers, the firm’s workforce in the North American country exceeds 21,000 people.
“The fact that Amazon continues to bet on our local economy underscores the strength of our technology sector and shows that Vancouver is where companies can settle and grow”, said Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart.
