ALBA Petróleos investigated for connections with Pdvsa

The Attorney General's Office of El Salvador is conducting an investigation directed to the company ALBA Petróleos which has links with the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela for alleged money laundering

The government of Venezuela announced through the Twitter account of the Public Ministry that specialists from the Unit Against Impunity of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) of El Salvador continue with an exhaustive analysis of documentary and digital information that has been collected in companies that are part of the company Alba Petróleos El Salvador.

The data collected will be part of the evidence for alleged money laundering activities of the aforementioned company. In fact, last week the headquarters of ALBA Petróleos was raided because of alleged links with the Venezuelan state-owned company Pdvsa.

Germán Arriaza, Director of Anti-Corruption and Against Impunity of the Attorney General’s Office, stated that the raids were also carried out in the companies ALBA Alimentos, ALBA Gas and in 24 other firms related to the famous cobsortium.

The purpose of the judicial procedure is to seize documentation, computer equipment and all the elements that may serve for the investigation carried out for money laundering.

It is worth emphasizing that ALBA Petróleos was formed in 2006 by the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (Pdvsa) and mayors of the governing Farabundo Martí Front for National Liberation (FMLN). The joint venture operates a fuel distribution chain in El Salvador and has been massifying business to other productive sectors.
