Walmart requests patent for delivery system with drones

The American company seeks to implement a network of delivery of its products in a safe and fast way based on the blockchain technology

The main retailer of the United States, Walmart, presented to the patent office an application for a delivery system based on blockchain technology with robots and drones. The company seeks greater speed and security in delivery through electronic authentication devices.

Walmart spokespersons have indicated that autonomous drones or robots used for delivery can be authenticated by security procedures described in the patent. The process involves what we know as the Internet of Things (IoT).

The name of the patent, “Systems, devices and methods for authentication in the field of autonomous robots”, makes clear the purpose of Walmart regarding the business and its customers. The system provides for operation by wireless signals that would perform authentication.

Through encryption systems, the data related to the buyer, the company and the product are transformed into various forms stored in an immutable form on the blockchain platform.

The blockchain technology will keep the items to be delivered safe until each buyer receives them and signs the corresponding documents. Walmart is eager to receive approval to face its competitors in the market.
