Google launches an interactive platform for children in Central America
YouTube Kids will provide educational content in a safe and easy-to-navigate environment
The main subsidiary of the American multinational Alphabet Inc, Google, has launched the innovative YouTube Kids platform on the technology market, a social network aimed at sharing educational content with the children, willing to provide a service with excellent security features and easy handling.
The leader of YouTube Kids in Latin America, Antoine Torres, said that the initiative arose with the purpose “to create a suitable platform for the use of families” and ensured that it is the first Google product made for children in Central America.
He also explained that the most important thing is “bring the magic of YouTube to children to use the tool, to explore the curiosity they have. We want them to use the tool to foster their interests, discover new things in fields such as science.”
The educational content will be presented through channels and playlists in four categories: Programs, Music, Learning and Explore. Children can search for videos of interest that range from how to draw a dinosaur to learn with the characters of “Sesame Street”. They can also watch episodes of their favorite series such as “Backyardigans” or “The Clown Plim Plim.”
According to information offered by the sponsoring company, YouTube Kids will be available starting this Thursday in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic. It can be downloaded, like any other application, by Google Play or the App Store.
