China to face pressures from the United States

Foreign affairs officer Wang Yi said his country will not succumb to the Trump administration in the context of the trade talks

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said his country will not succumb to any “maximum pressure” exercise in trade talks with the US. They will resume in a few days.

The diplomat, visiting Chile, said the talks will seek “mutually acceptable solutions through dialogue and consultation based on mutual respect.”

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Commerce Representative Robert Lighthizer will meet with Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu He on July 30 in Shanghai to discuss how to end this tariff war that they maintain.

“In a trade war there are no winners and China will not succumb to the application of maximum pressure. China has the honesty to continue negotiating with the United States to control divergences, but all negotiations must be carried out on equal footing and reciprocal respect,” he said in statements collected by the newspaper El Mercurio.

“It is unfair and immoral,” added the diplomat about the blockade of Chinese communications giant Huawei, suspended in the US for alleged violation of national security regulations, “that some countries abuse these kinds of reasons to impose obstacles on our companies.”

According to the US, Huawei collaborated in the development and maintenance of the North Korean wireless communications network. The company has denied any type of crime.

However, the United States Government plans to resolve the requests of technology companies seeking to be exempt from sanctions imposed on Huawei in the coming weeks, according to the Secretary of the Department of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, in an interview with Bloomberg.
