Latin America focuses on digital lighting

The search for efficiency and energy saving will be a priority during the International Lighting and Energy Fair "InterLumi" to be held in the city of Panama from July 25 to 27

The electricity business adapts to the digital era, in the search for greater energy efficiency, promoting the sustainable use of resources, innovating, and encouraging savings.

In this sense, it is opportune to mention the InterLumi International Lighting and Energy Fair which will take place in Panama City from July 25-27. It will gather together professionals in related areas and the public to know more “lighting and its use in patrimonial architecture“.

According to the Colombian architect and lighting systems specialist Andrés Sánchez, “the capitals of Latin America will bet on connected lighting, which through technology will make spaces more dynamic and obtain greater energy efficiency”.

The fair to be held in Panama will strengthen the path of Latin American cities to change the electricity industry and enter the ecosystem of smart cities. The projections in energy savings are estimated up to 60%.

“The idea is that all cities are interconnected through lighting, is the new language so that it has an intention, and is more dynamic for users,” Sanchez said. There is included the transition from traditional systems to the use of LED light and, more recently, to the control systems connected to the cloud.

In Panama they have made progress in terms of lighting, especially in the historic façade of the Monumental Complex of Old Panama, icon of the city, and where they have adapted a complete lighting system that will be presented on its anniversary on August 15.

Sánchez highlights examples of Latin American cities “that revitalized their monuments with LED light technology, such as the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral in Colombia and the Teotihuacán archaeological site in Mexico.”

The fair in Panama City will be the occasion for specialists to present their projects and technologies in this area of architectural design, without neglecting innovation and energy systems.
