WhatsApp launches tool against false content
Taking into account the increase in the spread of false news, the social network makes available to customers the option of deciding whether or not to belong to a group with several levels of permission
The spread of false and malicious news and content has led social networks to implement protection measures for their users. In this sense, the Facebook messaging application, WhatsApp, announced the launch of a tool that will allow users to decide which groups they want to belong to.
The tool, which will soon be enabled from the menu of the account, then through the “privacy” icon and finally in “groups”, will offer three levels of permissions. “The first and the lightest is very similar to the current alternative ‘all’, it gives the option to be added without requiring any permission.”
Users will have the opportunity to decide if they want to participate in proposed conversations through a request. In summary, the client can avoid being added automatically to a conversation or group.
About the link for “My Contacts”, the platform “only allows those contacts that the user has registered in their notebook can add it to groups” and strangers will enter the revision list to be accepted or not by the owner of the account.
WhatsApp has also created the “Nobody” option, which means that all requests, without exception, will go through an approval mechanism with a duration of 72 hours. After this period of time, the applications will be rejected automatically.
