The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recently informed that Petro raised 3,338 million dollars in its pre-sale stage, information that was granted at the inauguration of a cryptocurrency event in Caracas, where the president attended.
Likewise, the Head of State, who showed up at the event with a government delegation, explained that the money collected would be used to motivate the country’s economic development through imports.
On the other hand, Maduro said that these figures are due to the participation of multiple foreign companies that bet on the token, although the list of them is unknown.
The Petro was announced last November and since then it has been the target of criticism and controversy, not only in Venezuela, but also in the rest of the world.
