Pedro Sánchez announces early elections for November 29

This Monday, October 5, Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish Prime Minister, announced early general elections for November 29

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Monday, October 5, early general elections for November 29.

Sánchez made the announcement during his appearance at the Moncloa Palace, where he defended the government’s actions during his term, although it is argued that the decision stems from the failure of his decrees to address the housing crisis, among other reasons.

According to Sánchez, they are going through “a time in which it has been necessary to face unprecedented emergencies.” The current head of government defended the “bold measures” approved to strengthen the welfare state.

On the other hand, while acknowledging the mistakes made, he admitted that they had not been able to fulfill all their promises, which is why he decided to “call elections to secure a broader progressive majority to challenge the elites, achieve new social advances, and continue transforming Spain.”
