According to data from the Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM), the cost of the basic food basket for families exceeded 516,000 bolivars in July, representing a 15.8 % increase compared to June

The Center for Documentation and Social Analysis of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (Cendas-FVM) reported that the cost of the basic food basket for families exceeded 516,000 bolivars in July.

According to the agency’s data, the amount represents a 15.8 % increase compared to June, when the CAF (Costa Rican Food Bank) stood at 446,304.53 bolivars.

The items that experienced the greatest price increases are: sugar and salt (+33.07 %), coffee (+28.86 %); milk, cheese, and eggs (+18.75 %); fats and oils (+26.87 %); and roots, tubers, and other produce (+31.08 %).

The Cendas study includes the cost of bottled drinking water, due to the ongoing supply problems, which amounts to an estimated $13.52 for consumption.
