Publication in China will accept payments by subscription in bitcoin
News's Technology Life, a Beijing Science and Technology publication, will start accepting the subscription payment with bitcoin
The oldest Chinese medium on Science and Technology, News’s Technology Life, announced in a statement that from 2019 it will start accepting payments with bitcoin for subscriptions. Readers will be able to purchase a one-year subscription for 0.1 BTC that currently equals 450 yuan or 65 dollars.
The initiative marks a milestone in China, as Technology Life will become the first means of officially accepting payments in cryptocurrencies. Its objective is not only to diversify its market, but also to create awareness about incipient technology.
The initiative of the publication occurs at a time of increasing pressure around the field of cryptocurrency in China. On August 22, the country banned all commercial activities related to cryptography. Subsequently, the nation restricted 124 exchanges of cryptocurrencies abroad.
Despite the restrictions, operators can participate in the cryptoactive trade using Tether and VPN. Also it turns out that it is relatively easy for investors to buy tokens and even organize initial offers of currencies.
