Smart glasses could replace the smartphone

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, predicts that the smartphone could be replaced by smart glasses in the future as a means of communication

The displacement of the cell phone by smart glasses as a means of communication is the latest prediction by Mark Zuckerberg, pointing to Apple as the standard-bearer in this technology.

Innovation is advancing rapidly, offering users increasingly faster equipment and more functions. In terms of communication, the CEO of Meta points out that smartphones could in the near future be replaced by smart glasses, which are worn directly and offer permanent communication.

As Zuckerberg sees the market, Apple would be one step ahead in the race for this new device that provides a personalized and totally immersive experience. On smart glasses, “among all the options that exist are those recently presented by Meta, with its vision of the metaverse, and Apple, with its focus on privacy and ecosystem integration, are betting heavily on this technology. The idea is that smart glasses can perform many of the tasks that we do today with our phones, but in a more discreet and natural way.”

Zuckerberg seems convinced, given his enthusiasm, that smart glasses “will end up replacing smartphones in the long term,” in a gradual process and with an initial use in “specific tasks, such as viewing notifications or making video calls. Over time, as technology advances, glasses will become more versatile and capable devices.”
