WordPress will launch a new tool based on blockchain
They are developing a new publications platform which will use blockchain applications
Newspack is aimed at small and medium news organizations. The initiative has several sponsors, among which Google, who offered to collaborate with 1.2 million dollars through Google News.
Other sponsors include the Lenfest Institute of Journalism that is helping with $ 400,000, ConsenSys that supports Civil Media and contributes with $ 350,000, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation who collaborate with $ 250,000.
Spirited Media is another partner in the project and operates local digital news sites in Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and News Revenue Hub, a subsidiary of Voice of San Diego.
In turn, the news portals that enter the new Newspack platform will have the option of using the blockchain–based functions that are available through Civil backed by ConsenSys.
Civil allows the media to permanently archive the content in a decentralized network. This will be installed as an add-on in WordPress. A representative of ConsenSys said: “The complement will also act as a portal that will guide the editors through how to register their content in Civil.”
