Whatsapp works on new security mechanisms

Since February, the development team is working on a function that will allow the user to determine who can or cannot add it to a group

WhatsApp is working since February this year in a new function through which the user can decide who can add him to a group in addition to accepting himself if he wants to enter or not after receiving an invitation from the administrator of that group. In this connection, it recently introduced a new privacy option that sets exceptions.

As stated by the company itself in April of this year, this function of invitations was going to be available to everyone in the next update. However, it only reached users in India. As reported by WaBetaInfo, the company resumed this project, as it uploaded an update to Google Play Beta Program to test it on Android version 2.19.289.

The version that came out in April allowed the user to choose who could add him to a WhatsApp group with three options: ‘Everyone’, ‘My contacts’ or ‘nobody’. And if someone unauthorized tried to add, the user would receive an invitation by individual chat to join the group that would expire at 72 hours.

The novelty that incorporates this update of the beta version is that WhatsApp changed the option of ‘nobody’ for a ‘Blacklist’, according to WaBetaInfo, which translates into the option of ‘all my contacts except’. This means that if the user wants to make this function effective for everyone, he will have to manually put all his contacts on this blacklist.

This function is active in the beta version, and it is unknown when it will be available to all users, as the company is still working on its development.
