Venezuela launches “country brand” economic strategy

President Nicolás Maduro launched the strategy to attract foreign investments and position tourism as the engine of national economy

On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro launched the economic strategy “Country Brand, Venezuela open to the future”, from the city of Caracas.

The president stressed that the strategy “must be an articulating axis for Government action, for national and international tourism“, ensuring they count on “all the legal, logistical conditions, physical, educational and cultural resources so that Venezuela could take a great leap into development in the international tourism scenario”.

In addition to boosting tourism as a tool for the diversification of national economy in order to stop the dependence on oil, Maduro seeks to attract investors from all continents.

Another objective of the “Country Brand” strategy is to promote exports; a plan in which various governmental groups work intensely.

Maduro insisted that this is the time to promote the beauties and richness of Venezuela, encompassing the economic, natural, historical, touristic and cultural aspects. For this purpose was created the Country Brand Institute, also announced at the event on Monday.

According to the president of the South American nation, the strategy will serve to “articulate more effectively and efficiently all the effort to turn our country into an exporter of national productivity and diversity.
