US inflation remained at 1.7% in September

Data published by the US Department of Labor show that this index remained stable, compared to the month of August

The consumer price index (CPI) of the United States stood at 1.7% last September, so it maintained the same growth rate as in August, according to data published on Thursday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the US Department of Labor.

Compared to the same month of 2018, energy prices fell 4.8%, compared to the 4.4% drop in August. On the other hand, food prices grew 1.8%, one tenth more than the previous month.

Thus, the underlying inflation, that excludes the price of food and energy from its calculation given its greater volatility, stood at 2.4% in September, the same figure as in August.

In monthly terms, the inflation of the North American country remained unchanged in the ninth month of the year, while core inflation registered an increase of 0.1%.
