The Istanbul update of Ethereum will be activated on December 4th

The main Ethereum developers have confirmed that the expected Istanbul update will be activated on the main network by the end of the year

It was announced that Ethereum  Istanbul update will finally take place on December 4th, 2019.

The measure was mede by different developers of the platform during the so-called number 73 in which they established that, if there is any problem with the activation of said update, the process would be postponed until January 8th.

It is important to mention the definition of Ethereum Istanbul. It is known as an ETH fork in the network, which was officially created on September 30 and is expected to have its own update.

Tim Beiko, one of the developers who participated in the event, commented on Twitter: “It seems that there is a general consensus indicating that December 4th is the date set for the hard fork, leaving January 8th as the backup date in case something goes wrong.”

Another improvement that will be included in this update refers to the reduction of data transmission costs for transactions. Indeed, these changes are relevant and extremely important within the network for the second largest cryptocurrency in the world.
