Sony confirms PS5 launch by the end of 2020

The development team also said that the game console will be called PlayStation 5, and that it will implement haptic technology

PlayStation Japan confirmed that the name of its next-generation video game console will be PlayStation 5 (PS5), and that it will hit stores late next year.

The game console will focus on “taking the feeling of immersion to a higher level,” as the company pointed out in a statement. For this, the controller has been redesigned, and will adopt haptic technology to offer “sensations” to the players.

Also, the L2 and R2 buttons will work together with haptic technology, to reproduce more realistic actions. The developers can also adjust the resistance of these buttons to suit the game and the action to be performed.

PlayStation 5 has no official presentation date, and there are still details to be unveiled, but before taking the next step the company wanted to announce the name and launching date of its next-generation console, as explained by Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
