Samsung will integrate crypto wallets to Galaxy phones

The South Korean technology giant wants to integrate a cryptocurrency wallet on its entire line of Galaxy models, including low-budget phones

Galaxy series for Samsung became a channel for the global adoption of blockchain technology, so it will continue exploration and cooperation with other companies for further development. Recently, the firm launched the Galaxy S10 with an integrated cryptocurrency wallet.

Now the company decided to include blockchain functionalities and digital currencies to the entire series for users in South Korea, with expectations to expand such services to other countries in the world. The company’s next targets are the United States and Canada.

Chae Won-cheol, senior managing director of the product strategy team in the wireless business division of Samsung Electronics, said: “We will reduce barriers to new experiences by gradually expanding the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service to target countries after Korea, the United States and Canada.”

Similarly, Samsung also plans to work together with telecommunications companies such as SK Telecom and KT to develop mobile identification cards based on blockchain technology.

The addition of blokchain functionalities even to low budget models will facilitate the use of cryptocurrencies and the access of users to services based on the chain of blocks.
