Puerto Rico launches black boxes for drones using blockchain

The Red Cat company, dedicated to providing global airspace security services, announced the creation of black boxes for drones using blockchain technology

The company based in Puerto Rico introduces its second beta version of the drone platform that will help store flight data in the blockchain. That is, the black boxes will track information about flight routes, delivery of packages and communications issued from the plane’s cabin.

The Red Cat platform will allow insurance companies to secure drones with reliable third-party data and pilots can guarantee compliance with regulators. The data recorded in the black boxes will be used in case an airplane falls, and will allow to settle the cause of the event.

Red Cat was designed to create a simple and secure data storage and analysis solution for regulators, insurance companies, pilots, unmanned aircraft entrepreneurs and unmanned aircraft service companies.

Brian Larkin, CTO of Red Cat, said: “Transponders give us the ability to place drones on radar screens inside the cabins of all aircraft and create what we call shields of drones.”
