Oppo signs agreement with Intel and Ericsson for 5G patents

The manufacturer of electronic equipment can now have about 58 patents that relate to mobile telephony and another 500 that go to the regions of the US, China, Europe, among others

The electronic manufacturer Oppo has signed an agreement with Intel that includes the transfer of 58 patents in areas related to mobile telephony and also acquired the rights of more than 500 Ericsson patents, covering countries and regions of the United States, Europe, China and India, as reported.

The company submitted more than 2,200 patent applications worldwide related to 5G technology, which it has already deployed in more than 20 countries and regions, in addition to having submitted more than 2,600 technical documents to the 3GPP (Third Generation Association Project).

As of July 8, 2019, Oppo had filed more than 37,000 patent applications worldwide, of which more than 31,000 (about 85%) were of invention, and had been granted more than 11,000 patents in total.

This is how Oppo will be able to “strengthen the capacity for technological development as the company expands its business in international markets”, the company said in a statement.
