Microsoft launches agricultural platform in Brazil based on AI and blockchain

The technology company is committed to optimizing efficiency in the sector through proposals involving artificial intelligence, IoT, blockchain, drones and big data, among others

The agricultural sector of Brazil is one of the fundamental pillars for its economy. Recently, Microsoft announced a set of applications in the country of Latin America that will help optimize the efficiency of the associated industries.

These applications incorporate artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, blockchain technology, drones and other innovations that have already been tested in the United States, Kenya, India and New Zealand.

Ranveer Chandra, the scientist responsible for the FarmBeats platform – specially designed for the agricultural sector – recently stated that this sector has lagged behind in taking advantage of the benefits provided by the aforementioned technologies. And Brazil is a key country if you want to reach the levels of food production for the next 30 years.

Chandra has asked the Brazilian government “to adopt the technology and subsidize it in a similar way to agricultural equipment and fertilizers.” FarmBeats, developed by Microsoft, “can improve accuracy and performance by providing vital statistics on temperature, moisture and nutrients in the soil.”

Microsoft has provided other countries with technological innovations for the various industries that involve blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, AI, use of drones and more, as an aid to increase production and achieve future goals.
