Huawei develops its operating system “HarmonyOS”

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei introduced a new operating system that must equip its mobile phones and "bring more harmony to the world"

The operating system called “HarmonyOS” was presented by the executive director of the consumer division, Richard Yu, at a press conference in the city of Dongguan in southern China. The system will equip the different devices of the brand within the same “ecosystem”.

It is worth remembering that Huawei is the second largest mobile manufacturer in the world and that it was caught last May in the commercial and technological war between the United States and China. The company is blacklisted in the United States, which accuses him of alleged espionage for the Chinese government.

Without a doubt, starting up a system of exploitation with the entire ecosystem that accompanies it and managing to convince users and programmers is an arduous task.

HarmonyOS “is completely different from Android and iOS,” Yu said. Google is also working on a multipurpose exploitation system, “but it is not yet in a state of realization,” he said.

Yu said HarmonyOS will be installed on the smart screens that the group will start selling at the end of the year. Then they will incorporate it into the other devices such as smart watches, smart speakers, car systems, in China first and later in the rest of the world.

The system will be open to all in the form of “open source“, in this sense Yu said, “we want to build a global operating system that will not be used solely by Huawei.”
