Facebook breaks the barrier of 5,000 million downloads

The social network becomes the first non-Google application to reach this significant number

The app of the social network Facebook became the first non-Google application to exceed 5,000 million installations in the mobile device ecosystem with the Android system.

This figure, which Google updated on the Facebook page on Google Play, makes the social network the first application from a developer other than Google to achieve such a number of downloads and installations on Android.

In 2014, the network created by Mark Zuckerberg had already become the first non-Google application to exceed 1,000 million installations on Android, as reflected by the Android Police portal.

In this way, Facebook joins the list of applications that have exceeded 5,000 million installations on Android, all of them from Google: Google Play Services, Maps, YouTube, the Chrome browser and the Google search engine app.
