Crypto-crimes affect South Korea’s financial system

The rise in the adoption of cryptocurrencies has led network pirates who now apply more sophisticated mechanisms to commit their crimes

A recent report published in The Korea Herald, crimes with cryptocurrencies have increased to the point that they are causing severe damage to the South Korea financial system.

The publication includes the statements of the Minister of Justice of the Asian country, Park Sang-kim, who has stressed that crypto-crimes have caused losses to your financial apparatus in the order of USD 2.20 million in the period 2017-2019.

Criminals seek to harm people and institutions with scams and robberies. In fact, 130 arrests of involved in such criminal acts.

Given the increase in crypto-crimes, the Minister ordered the immediate approval of measures to put an end to these facts. Park Sang-kim declared: “We cannot let this escape from our hands. The lack of regulations is one of the reasons why, the amount of crypto-crimes is increasing, and as if that were not enough, our researchers have informed us that anonymous accounts are have doubled.”

Anonymous accounts have been blocked. However, exchange houses of less relevance they have migrated to the “hive” accounts to evade the measures imposed by the government.
