City Coin replaces fiat money in Norwegian city

The libertarian and private city Liberstad located to the south of Norway replaced fiduciary coins and cash with its own cryptocurrency

Liberstad was officially established in June 2017 with the collaboration of more than 100 investors from 27 different countries. It is a small city based on the principles of anarchism and non-aggression of The Libertania Project.

The website of the city states that it is a private city in which “all goods are private and all services are provided by private companies” and are based on the belief that “all human interactions must be voluntary.”

Citizens can pay for anything using City Coin, from haircuts to a dozen local eggs or a homemade bread stick. In the same way, salaries and the payment of taxes are collected and canceled with the cryptoactive.

Experts say that “City Coin is a safe and innovative cryptocurrency based on City Chain, a smart city platform that allows the design, implementation and use of next-generation services for smart cities.”

Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and the philosophy of libertarianism are related and complement each other very well. Liberstad and City Coin are just examples of what could be reserved for individuals and lovers of freedom in the near future.
