Champions League accepts tickets crypto payment

Tickets fir the Champions matches will be paid in cryptocurrencies through the Portuguese secure payment platform UTRUST which operates in digital currency

The initiative was developed in the Portuguese city of Braga (north) by the co-founder and CEO of UTRUST, Nuno Correia, who said that the “association with the number one football club in Portugal marks an important milestone for UTRUST and the blockchain ecosystem as a whole.” For their part, Frederico Pires and João Gomes, responsible for the platform, said that making transactions under this modality is like using the PayPal of cryptocurrencies.

This decision made by Sport Lisboa and Benfica in expanding the market for cryptocurrency transactions is aimed at creating a completely secure platform that also makes Benfica the first large company in the world to bet on this type of payment.

The system emerged as a startup after the general director of the sports club was cheated in the purchase of a trip with bitcoin. This became a great opportunity to enter a secure payment platform for Nuno. Subsequently, by 2018 a group of Portuguese developed the technology necessary to create the UTRUST platform and for the month of June began its commercialization.

Before the new challenge of acquiring assets, they launched the initiative to potential investors around the world who would like to invest in their project by purchasing their own cryptocurrency, called a token (UTK), equivalent to two cents and 1.8 cents Euro.

German Leipzig fans or Benfica lusans who wish to acquire general tickets for the Champions matches to be held at the Estadio da Luz on September 17 will have the privilege of being pioneers when acquiring a locality in cryptocurrencies for a League match of Champions. The general prices for non-members will range between 1,666 UTK, equivalent to 30 euros and 2,777 UTK, equal to 50 euros.
