Canada imposes sanctions against officials of Maduro

From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that these measures go to the key people close to the president

This week the Canadian government imposed new sanctions against high ranking officials close to Nicolás Maduro in his quest to put pressure on all his leadership.

In its fourth round of actions, a total of 43 Venezuelan government officials were sanctioned, with “key figures” as defined by the Canadian government.

“In response to the Maduro regime’s attempts to strengthen its authoritarian government over Venezuela, Canada today announces its fourth round of sanctions against key figures in the regime, in addition to the 70 that have already been sanctioned”, the statement said

Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, indicated that these measures are framed within the Law of Special Economic Measures.

“They are senior officials of the Maduro regime, regional governors and/or are directly involved in activities that undermine democratic institutions”, the minister said.
