Argentina innovates with digital identity system

The South American country is committed to a remote system, in real time, with biometric authentication, facial recognition and ID photograph

Argentine citizens have the Digital Identification System, SID, after a process of adjustments involving the Ministry of the Interior and Public Works, the Ministry of Modernization and representatives of the banking sector, among others.

Last July the announcement was made in the Hall of the Original Peoples of Casa Rosada, seat of the Argentine Government. The SID will allow citizens to perform procedures faster and easier.

Rogelio Frigerio, Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, said that “the Digital Identity System is the first technological tool developed by the State, which through the validation of identity by face caption will allow the citizen to access public and private services without need to move to an office.”

VU Security worked on the platform, focused on providing citizens with simplification of processes through identity validation technology remotely and in real time.

The process can be performed from any device equipped with a camera. The system is easily integrated into existing public service platforms and includes the use of the user’s identity document (DNI) as well as his photograph.

It was known that the system will soon be integrated into the health sector, to empower patients. Another key area is banking, where citizens will have the opportunity to open a savings bank, apply for loans from home, generate a tax code, electronic wallets and carry out any procedure that requires identity validation.
