Apple warns US tariffs would affect its products

The technology giant asked the US government not to apply more tariffs to imports from China, which would affect products such as iPhones, since they would reduce the contribution to the national economy

In the letter addressed to the representative of Foreign Trade of the United States, Robert Lighthizer, the Cupertino company directly asks the government not to impose tariffs on the products they develop.

In this regard, Apple recalled that most of its hardware products are manufactured in China, such as iPad tablets, Mac computers, AirPods headphones, AppleTV digital players, batteries and other components used to repair products in the United States.

Undoubtedly, tariffs on Apple products would reduce Apple’s contribution to the US economy and have a significant impact on the firm’s international competitiveness.

“The Chinese manufacturers with whom we compete in global markets do not have a significant presence in the United States, so the tariffs would not affect them and neither will the rest of our main non-US competitors. Thus, tariffs would decant the balance in favor of our global competitors,” said the managers of the company.

For its part, the renowned brand defended its contribution to the US economy by ensuring that it is responsible for more than 2 million jobs in the country and is the largest corporate taxpayer to the US Treasury.
