Adidas suspends its production with SpeedFactorys

The sporting goods manufacturer announced that it will not continue creating items at its plants located in Germany and the US, which worked with this system

The German sports equipment manufacturer Adidas announced today the suspension of production in its latest technology factories known as Speed-Factorys, located in Ansbach (Germany) and Atlanta (United States).

The announcement confirms the information previously offered by various media. However, the German brand wants to continue using this type of manufacturing technology, especially with Asian suppliers.

The so-called Speed-Factorys were created to respond as quickly as possible to new trends in fashion and consumption, especially in running shoes. At its Ansbach plant, Adidas collaborated with the German manufacturer Oechsler.

The decision is a setback for those who expected the speed plant projects to represent the beginning of a new era of manufacturing in Europe and North America. The facilities were designed with the goal of Adidas producing footwear profitably in high-cost developed economies.

Adidas is still studying other projects to manufacture products in these regions, including manufacturing in the company’s stores, if the manufacturing process can be further simplified.
